Johan Olivier is a partner and head of the Employment, Health and Safety Practice at Webber Wentzel.
He is an expert in employment and employee benefits law as well as health and safety. He has extensive experience in corporate restructuring, dealing with collective bargaining cases, strikes, lock outs, discrimination law, disciplinary and litigation proceedings.
He’s expertise extends to employment issues flowing from mergers and acquisitions, workforce reduction programmes, transfers of undertakings and going concerns, harmonisation of employee benefits, cross-border arrangements, retirement funds and medical aid schemes. He also has extensive experience in advising financial service providers on debarment procedures under the Financial Advisory and intermediary Services Act (FAIS).
He is a member of the Employment Committee of the International Bar Association and of the South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW). He is currently the President of the Gauteng Chapter of SASLAW.
Johan's expertise has been recognised by various international research organisations including Chambers Global,. Legal 500, Who’s Who Legal and Best Lawyers.
Johan has BA and LLB degrees from Stellenbosch University and an LLM degree, awarded with distinction, from the Rand Afrikaans University. He also has a Higher Diploma in Arbitration from the Association of Arbitrators.
