The Webber Wentzel Africa Mining and Energy Projects Practice Group invite you to a panel discussion on tackling the challenges of natural resource projects in key African mining countries. It is becoming increasingly difficult to invest in African resource projects, as more and more nations flirt with resource nationalism. This is seen in demands for windfall profit taxes, free equity for governments in projects, restrictions on exports of 'strategic' minerals and, in extreme cases, nationalisation. Webber Wentzel aims to offer some practical insight into mitigating these risks, addressing the challenges and transforming them into opportunities for the benefit of all parties. The panel will comprise Bruce Dickinson, Peter Leon and Steven De Backer (all partners at Webber Wentzel), Arshad Dudhia (managing partner of Musa Dudhia & Company, Zambia) and will be facilitated by André Janse van Vuuren, editor of Miningmx.com.
Webber Wentzel recently joined the Africa Legal Network (ALN), creating a footprint in Africa covering over 520 lawyers in 13 African cities. This link creates a pan-African platform for multi-jurisdictional resource projects across the continent.
The seminar will be of particular interest to directors, executives, board committee members, legal counsel and other professionals.
If you have any questions for the panelists, please do not hesitate to forward them to us.
