Emma Sadlier, a partner at Webber Wentzel, was quoted in an article on Time Lives that reported on the feelings of the Zuma Family over the painting entitled The Spear that is currently on display at the Goodman Gallery in Rosebank, Johannesburg. The ANC have issued court papers seeking to interdict the gallery, which is represented by Webber Wentzel, to remove the painting.
Sadlier commented that the painting was protected by the constitution and that their client denies that the artwork harms the dignity or is defamatory to Mr Zuma. She said that the artwork benefits from ”inter alia, the defence of honest comment, being political satire”.
