Joburg’s deposit treasure trove

Mark McIntosh, a partner at Webber Wentzel, was recently quoted in an article in The Citizen that reported on the current situation of the City of Johannesburg failing to repay property owners deposits paid to obtain clearance certificates.

McIntosh noted that in almost most cases there is an amount that should be refunded to the seller but at the moment no refunds are being paid and that the Johannesburg refund pool “is undoubtedly millions of rands”.
