Michael Evans is a partner in the Public Law Practice at Webber Wentzel.
He specialises in the fields of regulatory, local government and general administrative law and also practices in the fields of constitutional, procurement, public private partnerships, electricity and energy, transport, planning and land expropriation law. He advises non-profit organisations and he regularly advises the national, provincial and local spheres of government, parastatals and the private sector.
Michael has drafted over 500 opinions on a wide range of local government, administrative, constitutional, transport, electricity distribution, tobacco, alcohol, gambling and fishing law issues. He has also been involved in drafting national, provincial and local legislation, acting in litigation disputes and presenting numerous workshops.
He is an admitted attorney of the High Courts of the Western Cape, the Northern Provinces and Namibia.
Michael has BA, BA (Honours) (First Class) and LLB degrees from the University of Cape Town. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Tax Law from the same institution as well as an Advanced Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (with distinction) from the University of Pretoria.
Headed the Webber Wentzel team given the award for Africa Transport and Infrastructure Team of the Year, 2013 (for legal work undertaken in relation to the Cape Town BRT system).
