Roddy heads the firm's Africa Practice and has overall responsibility for the firm's practice on the African Continent (outside South Africa). He also heads up Webber Wentzel's English law practice.

He brings to Webber Wentzel over 20 years experience in mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructurings, joint ventures and other corporate transactional work. He joined the firm in 2007 prior to which he was a partner for 17 years with Lovells, a leading international London based law firm, including five years based in Hong Kong as Managing Partner of Lovells' Asian regional offices. As Head of the Asian corporate practice, he was involved in a number of significant cross-border M&A transactions across a broad range of emerging markets in Asia.

Since joining Webber Wentzel, he has been involved in a number of projects for major clients of the firm in South Africa, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

  • Acting for African Development Corporation who, together with a Mauritian based consortium acquired a 54% stake in Premier Finance Group, a banking and financial services group in Zimbabwe.
