Marius Diemont is a partner in the Projects Practice at Webber Wentzel.
He specialises in environmental, natural resources and energy law. His clients include national and international mining, oil and gas exploration companies, industrial companies, financial institutions and power utilities. Marius also provides environmental regulatory and risk advice to lenders and developers in connection with infrastructure projects and renewable energy projects under the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Programme.
Marius advises on the authorisation and permitting processes. He has extensive experience on regulatory and risk issues relating to contractual compliance and director liability.
Before joining Webber Wentzel, Marius served as the Special Legal Advisor to the Minister of Environmental Affairs and was appointed Head of the Ministry. He has represented clients in the High Court, Supreme Court of Appeal and in the Constitutional Court in a wide range of matters.
Marius has LLM and BA degrees from the University of Cape Town as well as an LLB from the University of Natal. He was admitted as an Advocate in South Africa 1991 and in Namibia 1995.
