Desmond Rudman is a partner in the Competition Practice at Webber Wentzel.
He specialises in competition law and has expertise in economics and economic price cap regulation. He advises local and international clients on merger control, behavioural competition matters and compliance. Desmond's knowledge of competition laws extends to many other African countries, as well as regional regulators like the COMESA Competition Commission. He was previously Head of Research at the Competition Tribunal of South Africa.
Desmond's experience spans a range of sectors including agri-processing, automotive, construction, financial services, healthcare, mining, petrochemical, distribution and retail and telecommunications.
Desmond has been recognised as a leader in his field by a number of international research organisations including Chambers Global(Competition/ Anti-trust), IFLR1000 (Competition/ Anti-trust), Legal 500 (Competition), Who's Who Legal (Competition).and Best Lawyers (Competition/ Anti-trust).
Desmond has a B.Com, with distinction, from the University of the Free State, a B.Com (Honours), awarded with distinction, from the University of South Africa and an LLB from the University of South Africa. He attended the advanced studies programme in International Economic Policy Research at the Kiel Institute of World Economics.
