Giving a voice to those who need it: Our Pro Bono contribution for 2012/13
As a leading law firm in South Africa and in Africa, we at Webber Wentzel recognise our role as a responsible corporate citizen and actively do what we can to give a voice to those who need one. We do this through our Public Interest Law practice on a pro bono basis.
In 2012, a total of 75 practitioners contributed almost 10 596 hours with an estimated value of over ZAR10 million to this cause. They worked on 183 matters covering a range of legal areas from land claims to housing and services; traditional leadership disputes to sexual harassment and unfair dismissal claims; delictual disputes; amicus curiae representations; refugee matters and corporate work for SMMEs and not-for-profit organizations.
