While we’re full of drive and ambition, we also take pride in being really approachable. Leadership and integrity are central to our firm and we pride ourselves on our teamwork and exceptional skills. We strive to employ and retain the best people, while being fully committed to transformation and diversity.
RESULTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES
By joining Webber Wentzel, not only will you be working with the firm widely regarded as South Africa’s leading full-service legal practice, but also with a group firmly focused on becoming Africa’s best.
Some of our recent accolades include:
Webber Wentzel is an African law firm with a leading practice across the African continent. We provide legal support to South African and international clients in relation to their operations in the rest of Africa. This reach, enables us to project manage some of the largest and most complex cross-border transactions in Africa.
HIGH PROFILE CASES AND CLIENTS
As a full-service practice, we provide legal services in most market sectors. This provides our lawyers with extensive experience across a range of disciplines, both locally and internationally. Webber Wentzel has acted for and advised on some extremely high profile cases and clients with offers and transactions in the billions.
THE RIGHT FOCUS
Developing industry knowledge is crucial to our strategy of building close relationships with our clients, understanding their business agendas and being recognised as a trusted business adviser. We put together teams, which harness the skills and experience we have within the firm, with particular reference to the nature of our clients’ businesses.
PRO BONO PRACTICE
At our core is a belief that justice should be equal for all. In a country where the majority of our citizens face major economic and social challenges, it is important that the firm does what it can to assist in improving the lives of all South Africans. Whether it be through providing free legal services to various organisations and communities, or having a ‘hands on’ approach to our CSI projects.
PUTTING YOU FIRST
We see ourselves as a meritocracy, rewarding high quality work and leadership with promotion. Our Candidate Attorney retention rate and number of young partners bears testimony to this practice. We too believe in investing where it matters most. Each year we award scholarships and bursaries to LLB students and internally we pride ourselves in investing in training to equip our staff with the skills and knowledge to facilitate their personal growth. We are also mindful of the importance of having work-life balance, so the Webber Wentzel Employee Wellness Programme provides you with professional support to deal with the challenges that you face in life.
TECHNOLOGY THAT WORKS FOR YOU
Our dedicated IT Department has set us up with the very latest software, systems and equipment. For example we are the first South African law firm to introduce a virtual document management system, as used at major law firms around the world. Our remote connectivity means our staff can work away from the office, whether using notebooks, the internet or wireless devices. As a Candidate Attorney, you are furnished with your own laptop, have e-mail access 24/7 and can also apply for a Blackberry.
LIFE’S NOT ONLY ABOUT WORK
At Webber Wentzel, we believe there’s more to life than just work. On Friday nights our bar is open to all professional staff and clients. We also regularly host and participate in corporate sports events like the Legal Eagles Yacht Race. Our Jo’burg office boasts a fully equipped gym with the option of a personal trainer. Finally, at the end of each year we throw a big bash for ourselves, and as if that weren’t enough, we throw a spring party for all our staff’s children.
