If you would like to gain practical work experience at one of South Africa's top full-service corporate law firms, apply to join our student vacation programme.
Successful applicants participate in a structured programme designed to provide insight into how a law firm operates in addition to practical work experience. We arrange accommodation if necessary and also pay students who work for the two-week period. Those who participate are also guaranteed an interview for articles.
Our vacation programme enables you to experience the law in a practical way by giving you an opportunity to work in various legal departments and to get to know our current candidate attorneys and other legal professionals.
How does the Webber Wentzel vacation programme work?
The formal vacation programme consists of presentations, assignments and job shadowing in various legal practice groups.
You will be exposed to corporate law across a variety of areas including Competition law, Environmental and Natural Resource law, Intellectual Property law, and International Trade law.
Partners, senior associates, associates and candidate attorneys from Webber Wentzel all participate in the programme, allowing participants to get to know our staff on a professional and social level.
Students complete an evaluation of the programme while their supervisors complete an assessment on their performance. Both of these play an important role in fulfilling the aims of the programme, which include:
- offering law students an opportunity to experience the law in a practical way while enhancing their skills and knowledge; and
- identifying potential candidate attorneys to join our firm.

How do I apply for Webber Wentzel's vacation programme?
The next vacation programme will run in June/ July 2013.
Our online application process enables you to apply for articles and our vacation programme with a single application. The entire process will take approximately 45 minutes. You do not have to complete the application in one session ― and you can log into the system at any logical stage to complete different parts of your application.
