What’s in it for you?
Why not get your career off to a resounding start by spending a few weeks at Webber Wentzel in your June/July holidays? Successful applicants spend two weeks of their June/July holidays at our offices participating in a structured programme designed to give you a real insight into how the firm operates. Students who participate in the vacation programme are also guaranteed an interview for articles. And if that's not enough, we arrange your accommodation and pay you for the two-week period!
There'll be no standing at the photocopier or making coffee on our vacation programme! It affords you an opportunity to learn what legal practice is like (and most importantly, whether you like it!) by giving you the opportunity to work in various departments and to socialise with our current candidate attorneys and other professionals. You'll also attend various courses to set you up for life in law - like presentation skills, an English Business writing programme and a Jobsearch workshop. Not a bad way to spend your vacation, is it?
How does the programme work?
Successful candidates will attend a formal programme consisting of an induction, lectures and presentations, job-shadowing in various departments, and two assignments which students have to complete and on which they’ll receive feedback. Partners, senior associates, associates and candidate attorneys from Webber Wentzel participate in the programme. Previous participants in the programme have welcomed the time and effort invested in them by the firm’s professional staff.
Students complete an evaluation on the programme while their supervisors complete an assessment on the student's performance. Both play an important role in fulfilling the aims of the programme: the identification of potential candidate attorneys for the firm, and offering students an opportunity to experience the practical running of a law firm while enhancing their skills and knowledge of law. We use the feedback from students to ensure that our programme remains capable of meeting most, if not all, your expectations.
