MCAS Corporate Advisory Services (Pty) Ltd (“MCAS”) was formed in 2001 as a business and corporate consultancy. Webber Wentzel has a financial interest in MCAS, along with co-founder and Executive Director Steven Chapman (B Com (Hons) CA (SA) MBA) who has more than 12 years of corporate advisory experience. Prior thereto, Steven served as financial director of companies operating in the property development, construction, financial services, manufacturing and import and export industries.

• Some of the significant transactions in which Steven has been involved, include:Advised Phetogo Investments, BBBEE shareholder, in relation to the unbundling of KWV Ltd and the valuation and restructure of Phetogo Investments
• Performed due diligence and feasibility forecasting on the commercial property component of Melrose Arch Precinct, Gauteng, prior to acquisition (R1.2 bn transaction)
• Advised City of Cape Town – Bus Rapid Transit project on financial modelling for compensation structures and shareholder structures
• Advised shareholders of major BBBEE fishing group, Bongolethu, on disposal issues
• Valued a major bank, for CGT purposes on behalf of Ernst & Young Corporate Finance
• Corporate advisor for the merger of Cambrient Internet Applications, Stonewall+ Digital Marketing and Brandsh Media, into a full-service digital agency
• Consulted to Bureau for Economic Research and Provincial Government of the Western Cape in connection with the casino exclusivity regime in the Western Cape
• Advised Western Cape Trade Investment and Trade Promotion Agency (Wesgro) regarding investment in and valuation of Cape Town Film Studios
• Led a team of professionals in relation to due diligence and feasibility studies (legal advisors; town planners; environmental consultants; and valuers) prior to acquisition of a share of Chintsa River Residential Property and Golf Resort, East London
• Advised Occhiali Eyeware regarding the valuation and sale of retail businesses to Luxottica International
• Advised Cape Agulhas Municipality, as part of the tender evaluation committee, regarding the awarding of a property-related tender and engaged in negotiations with the preferential bidder.
