Take a Stand

The death of George Floyd highlights great injustice and continued lack of equality in the world. This incident reminds one of the recent deaths we have seen here in South Africa at the hands of enforcement agencies during the lockdown. These terrible incidents are the result of deep systemic failures, often involving racism. As a law firm, we condemn all forms of discrimination, racism and any abuse of public power in the strongest possible terms.

Violence and discrimination undermines the freedom, dignity and equality of all people upheld by our Constitution. We convey our condolences to the families that have lost loved ones and our sympathy to all those affected by violence and discrimination. As we have done before, we recommit ourselves to upholding the Constitution and protecting the fundamental human rights of every person living in South Africa and those abroad, and to speak out when we see any form of injustice.

Silence is not an option. It is our collective responsibility to take a stand.
