While one of the objectives of the firm’s
Pro Bono Department is to facilitate greater access to justice by addressing systemic issues, these matters generally take a long time to process through our court system. Our CSI Programme supports structures and organisations that work more closely with people’s everyday problems and attempt to secure their access to justice on an individual basis, and in a more immediate way.
In 2021, our CSI Programme supported greater access to justice by making monetary donations to initiatives such as free online laws accessible to all, a free helpline that assists with queries about social grants, the employment of a full-time attorney to provide labour law advice for free, and projects that provide free psycho-social and legal support to victims of gender-based violence.
