Webber Wentzel earns a spot on IFLR's Africa Awards shortlist

​Webber Wentzel has been included in the International Financial Law Review's (IFLR) 2024 Africa Awards shortlist. The firm has been shortlisted in categories which include: Deals of the Year, Teams of the Year, Law Firm of the Year and National Law Firm of the Year. The firm's Managing Partner, Sally Hutton, has also been shortlisted in the IFLR Women DealMakers Hall of Fame category.

This recognition is a testament to the firm's renowned and exceptional banking & finance and corporate legal advice for clients across Africa. The categories Webber Wentzel has been shortlisted for include:

Deals of the Year

This showcases the firm's expertise in matters such as Heineken's acquisition of Distell Group and Namibian Breweries Group, Sanlam-Allianz' Joint Venture and the Mediclinic International transaction. These deals were cross-border transactions where Webber Wentzel worked with multiple firms (local and international), across various jurisdictions to co-ordinate the African legal aspects of these deals.

Teams of the Year - these shortlists evidence the firm's:

  • Outstanding innovation and deep expertise in Capital Markets related-services such as unwinding cross-holding structures, stock exchange listings and residential mortgage-backed securities programmes.
