Webber Wentzel shortlisted in seven categories at the African Legal Innovation & Technology Awards 2025

Webber Wentzel has been recognised as a finalist across seven categories at this year's African Legal Innovation & Technology Awards, underscoring the firm's ongoing efforts to evolve legal service delivery across the continent.

Building on last year's win in the Innovation category and shortlistings in Best Use of Technology and ESG Initiative of the Year at the African Legal Awards 2024, the firm has received nominations in the following categories for 2025:

  • Most Innovative Law Firm
  • Innovative Trailblazers
  • Best Use of Artificial Intelligence
  • Disruptive Technology of the Year
  • Innovation in ESG
  • Knowledge Management Innovation
  • Outstanding Training Innovation

What sets this apart is not just the number of nominations but the breadth of recognition across key areas of client service and forward-thinking delivery. This is reflective of the firm's multi-faceted innovation strategy that touches all aspects of the firm's operations and culture. Webber Wentzel is the only large African law firm with significant multi-disciplinary in-house innovation, AI, technology, data & analytics, knowledge and change management divisions that work collaboratively to serve both clients and the firm.

The contributions of our client-facing innovation and legal tech division, Fusion, were central to the firm's shortlistings in the Innovative Trailblazers and Best Use of AI categories, where Webber Wentzel is the only law firm recognised. The Innovation in ESG, Knowledge Management and Outstanding Training nominations also reflect the close collaboration between Fusion, ESG and Knowledge Management teams respectively, demonstrating the firm's ability to deliver holistic and integrated solutions that are scalable, human-centric and aligned with evolving business, cultural and sustainability priorities.

This recognition reflects a long-term, deliberate investment in redefining legal services through technology, client collaboration, people centricity and a culture of bold and incremental innovation.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 17 July 2025, to be held at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.
