Webber Wentzel is pleased to announce the appointment of Olwethu Gusha as a partner in the firm’s Banking & Finance practice.
Olwethu brings over a decade of experience advising on complex banking and finance matters across the continent. He joins Webber Wentzel from White & Case, where he was a senior associate. Prior to that, he spent six years at ENSafrica.
His expertise spans a wide range of financing transactions, including debt restructurings, ESG-linked financing, Tier 2 capital instruments and cross-border deals governed by English law. He has acted for a variety of clients across Africa, including banks, development finance institutions, asset managers and corporates.
Olwethu’s strong track record in navigating multi-jurisdictional mandates is bolstered by his ongoing pursuit of an English law qualification, which will further strengthen his capability for Africa-wide work.
He is focused on building a broad client base, with particular emphasis on non-bank lenders, financial institutions and corporate borrowers. His established relationships with Futuregrowth, Stanlib and MTN, among others, position him well to grow both lender and borrower-side practices. He also sees strategic opportunities in serving non-traditional lenders and price-sensitive mandates, a niche that aligns with his entrepreneurial approach.
We are delighted to welcome Olwethu to the firm and look forward to the value he will bring to our clients across the continent.
