"Every once in a while, a new technology, an old problem and a big idea turn into an innovation." Dean Kamen
We use predictive coding, technology-assisted review, data extraction, document automation and machine learning to add value to our clients' matters. Our firm was the first South African law firm to announce its use of an artificial intelligence platform to supplement existing due diligence and review processes to deliver significant matter efficiencies.
We advise on platform assessment, selection and implementation, and assist with vendor relationship management, scoping and pricing. Subsequent platform administration and support can be provided by our paralegals who work seamlessly with our advisory teams on their matters. For more detail as to how we use technology to enhance the delivery of our client matters, see

Case study
legal technology
+ legal process improvement
+ alternative resourcing
A Webber Wentzel team was requested to perform a legal due diligence review for a client in a very short period of time.
Solution
We proposed the use of Luminance, an artificial intelligence platform developed specifically for use by the legal profession. By automatically identifying language patterns, Luminance can quickly group similar types of documents and identify key clauses and anomalies across large document sets. The task allocation functionality streamlines workflow, and the built-in note making capability enables real-time collaboration among reviewers.
Outcomes
Provided with immediate insights into the scope of the project our lawyers were able to prioritise and focus their substantive review accordingly. The ability to manage the project and work directly in the platform also saved valuable time.
